Gene Information

human ... Olfm1(10439)

General description

Olfactomedin 1 (OLFM1) is localized to various organs like the heart, lungs and eyes. The gene encoding it is localized on human chromosome 9q34.3.

Specificity

Detects ~70 kDa (Pancortin-1, Pancortin-3) and ~20 kDa (Pancortin-2 and Pancortin-4).

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide of amino acids 28-48 of human pancortin-1 (SLVGLNTTRLSAASGGTLDRS), Accession Number Q99784.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Olfactomedin 1 (OLFM1) is downregulated in the human endometrium. When it is upregulated, complications like endometriosis and ectopic pregnancy are observed. OLFM1 may act as a cell adhesion protein and it has been shown to modulate the Wnt-signaling pathway.
