Gene Information

human ... EPOR(2057)

General description

Erythropoietin (Epo) is a hypoxia-inducible cytokine. EPOR gene has eight exons. It is located on human chromosome 19p13. This gene belongs to the superfamily of cytokine receptors.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human Epo-R around the phosphorylation site of Tyr368.

Immunogen Range: 341-390

Biochem/physiol Actions

EPOR (erythropoietin receptor) participates in angiogenesis and controls erythropoiesis. EPOR destroys the xenografts of HeLa cells by repressing the ectopic hemoglobin synthesis. Point mutation in EPOR leads to short deletion in congenital erythrocytosis.
