General description

Anti-USP44 Antibody detects endogenous levels of total USP44 protein.
USP44 (ubiquitin-specific protease 44) codes for a 712 amino acid protein. It belongs to the ubiquitin-specific protease (USP) family. USP44 contains a ZnF-UBP (zinc-finger ubiquitin-specific protease) domain and conserved cysteine, histidine and asparagine/aspartic acid residues. It is abundantly expressed in the nucleus. It is mapped to human chromosome 12q22.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human USP44.

Immunogen Range: 211-260

Biochem/physiol Actions

USP44 (ubiquitin-specific protease 44) plays a major role in the mitotic checkpoint. Absence of USP44 leads to chromosome mis-segregation, aneuploidy and tumorigenesis in vivo.

Most human tumors have abnormal numbers of chromosomes, a condition known as aneuploidy. The mitotic checkpoint is an important mechanism that prevents aneuploidy by restraining the activity of the anaphase-promoting complex (APC). The deubiquitinase USP44 was identified as a key
