Gene Information

human ... HNRNPK(3190)

General description

Anti-HNRNP K Antibody detects endogenous levels of total HNRNP K protein.
Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein K (HNRNP K) is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 9q21.32. HNRNP K encodes a nucleic acid binding protein that shuttles between nucleus and the cytoplasm. The encoded protein contains three K homology (KH) domains that is involved in RNA and/or single strand DNA binding.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human hnRNP K.

Immunogen Range: 250-299

Biochem/physiol Actions

Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein K (HNRNP K) plays a vital role in regulation of various cellular processes such as chromatin remodelling, transcription, RNA stability and splicing, translation and signal transduction. In addition, it also mediates transcriptional responses to DNA damage. It is an essential element in p53/HDM2 (human double minute 2) pathway. Mutations in the gene leads to melanoma. Haploinsufficiency of the gene is associated with the development of congenital malformation syndrome, characterized with intellectual disability.
