Anti-SEPT8 Antibody detects endogenous levels of total SEPT8 protein.
Septins are cytoskeletal GTPases. SEPT8 (septin 8) belongs to septin family. It is expressed in brain. It is also present in heart, aorta, prostate, testis and ovary. It is located on human chromosome 5q31.
Immunogen
The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human SEPT8.
Immunogen Range: 170-219
Biochem/physiol Actions
In platelets, SEPT8 (septin 8) participates in granula secretion. It also participates in cytokinesis, vesicle trafficking and exocytosis. The protein mitogen-activated protein kinase-activated protein kinase 5 (MK5) phosphorylates and modulates septin 8, which interacts with various synaptic vesicle proteins and may participate in the release of neurotransmitters.
