Gene Information

human ... COL6A1(1291)

General description

Anti-Collagen VI α1 Antibody detects endogenous levels of total Collagen VI α1 protein.
Collagen type VI α1 chain (COL6A1) is encoded by the gene mapped to long arm of human chromosome 21q22.3. Collagen VI is widely expressed in connective tissue.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human Collagen VI alpha1.

Immunogen Range: 191-240

Application

Anti-Collagen VI α1 antibody produced in rabbit has been used in immunohistochemistry and cytofluorimetric analysis.[1]

Biochem/physiol Actions

Collagen type VI α1 chain (COL6A1) plays a vital role in tumor metastasis. Mutations in the gene leads to Bethlem myopathy. Increased expression of the gene can be considered as an important marker for poor prognosis of clear cell renal cell carcinoma patients.
