Anti-TRXR2 Antibody detects endogenous levels of total TRXR2 protein.
Thioredoxin reductase 2 (TRXR2) is mitochondrial protein-disulfide oxidoreductase, encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 22q11.21. TRXR2 is one of the mammalian isoforms of thioredoxin reductase (TrxR).
Immunogen
The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human TRXR2.
Immunogen Range: 471-520
Biochem/physiol Actions
Thioredoxin reductase 2 (TRXR2) regulates cell survival during mammalian embryonic development. In addition, it also regulates mitochondria-dependent apoptosis. TRXR2 also controls protein tyrosine phosphorylation and cell proliferation. The protein expression is associated with development of glioma. In humans, this enzyme stimulates the apoptosis in HeLa cells. Mutation in the gene might increase the risk of susceptibility to myocardial infarction (MI) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients.
