CXCL6 (C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 6)/GCP-2 (granulocyte chemotactic protein-2), a pro-inflammatory neutrophil chemoattractant, is mapped to human chromosome 4q12-q13. It belongs to the ELR+ CXC family. It is synthesized by mesenchymal cells like fibroblasts and micro and macrovascular endothelial cells.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide of human CXCL6
Biochem/physiol Actions
CXCL6 (C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 6)/GCP-2 (granulocyte chemotactic protein-2) plays an important role in the recruitment and activation of neutrophils. It acts as an autocrine growth factor resulting in tumor progression and metastasis. CXCL6 participates in menstruation, implantation and the maintenance of early pregnancy. GCP-2 plays an important role in mucosal chronic inflammatory conditions like inflammatory bowel disease or chronic rhinosinusitis.

Mucosal inflammatory responses are orchestrated largely by pro-inflammatory chemokines. The chemokine granulocyte chemotactic protein 2 (CXCL6) is involved in neutrophil recruitment and migration. Previous studies have shown that granulocyte chemotactic protein 2 is up-regulated during mucosal inflammation (e.g. in inflammatory

CXCL6 is a potent pro-inflammatory neutrophil chemoattractant and activator whose activity during pregnancy is not well-established. The purpose of this study was to determine if CXCL6 is present in amniotic fluid (AF) and if CXCL6 concentrations in AF change with
