Mitochondrially encoded cytochrome c oxidase II (MT-CO2) is a key subunit of cytochrome c oxidase, which is the terminal enzyme involved in the oxidative phosphorylation complexes.
Specificity
The antibody detects endogenous levels of total MT-CO2 protein.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide corresponding to a region derived from internal residues of human mitochondrially encoded cytochrome c oxidase II
Biochem/physiol Actions
Polymorphism in mitochondrially encoded cytochrome c oxidase II (MT-CO2) might alter electron transfer from cytochrome c to the bimetallic center of the catalytic subunit I. Aberrations in MT-CO2 expression has been observed in prostate cancer patients.
