Claudin-4 is heterogeneously expressed in various tissues. It is enriched in endothelial cells (ECs), including the blood-brain barrier, and is also expressed in liver, gut and kidney. Claudin-4 is a major constituent of tight junctions.
synthetic peptide corresponding to an internal sequence of human claudin-4, conjugated to KLH. The corresponding sequence is highly conserved in mouse claudin-4 (89% identity) and in rat claudin-4 (84% identity).
Application
Anti-Claudin-4 antibody produced in rabbit may be used in immunoblotting.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Claudin-4 expression is deregulated in several cancers, with aberrant expression in ovarian, breast, prostate, gastric and pancreatic carcinomas.
Physical form
Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
Storage and Stability
For continuous use, store at 2-8 °C for up to one month. For extended storage, freeze in working aliquots. Repeated freezing and thawing, or storage in “frost-free” freezers,is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use. Working dilutions should be discarded if not used within 12 hours.

The inner ear of humans and large animals is embedded in a thick and dense bone that makes dissection challenging. Here, we present a protocol that enables three-dimensional (3D) characterization of intact inner ears from large-animal models. We describe steps
