General description

RNA polymerase II subunit A (POLR2A) gene with 29 exons is mapped on human chromosome 17p13.1. This gene codes for a catalytic subunit of RNA polymerase II. The encoded protein consists of a highly conserved 5′ flanking region.

Immunogen

peptide corresponding to the N-terminal region of human POLR2A, conjugated to KLH. The corresponding sequence is identical in mouse, rat, monkey, bovine, dog and pig.

Biochem/physiol Actions

RNA polymerase II subunit A (POLR2A) catalyzes the synthesis of messenger RNA in eukaryotes. The 5′ flanking domain of RNA polymerase II subunit A (POLR2A) plays a vital role in transcriptional regulation. Mutation in the gene is associated with the pathogenesis of meningiomas.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
