General description

Exosome component 5 (EXOSC5) protein is a component of the eukaryotic RNA exosome complex and is non-catalytic. The EXOSC5 gene is mapped on the human chromosome at 19q13.2.

Specificity

Anti-EXOSC5 (C-terminal) recognizes human EXOSC5(not tested in other species).

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to the C-terminal region of human EXOSC5, conjugated to KLH. The corresponding sequence is identical in mouse, rat, monkey, bovine, dog and pig.

Application

Anti-EXOSC5 (C-terminal) antibody produced in rabbit may be used in:
  • immunoblotting
  • immunofluorescence
  • immunoprecipitation

Biochem/physiol Actions

Exosome component 5 (EXOSC5) protein exhibits 3′-5′ exoribonuclease activity. This protein is involved in RNA processing and RNA degradation episode. EXOSC5 protein is also involved in cleaving the DNA during apoptosis. Overexpression of the EXOSC5 gene is associated with melanoma, prostate, colorectal and lung cancer.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.

Storage and Stability

For continuous use, store at 2-8°C for up to one month. For extended storage freeze in working aliquots. Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use. Working dilution samples should be discarded if not used within 12 hours.
