Gene Information

human ... JUB(84962)

General description

JUB, also known as Ajuba, is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 14q11.2. JUB is an adaptor/scaffolding protein and is a member of the zyxin family of cytosolic LIM proteins. The protein is characterized with three related tandem LIM domains at the C terminus associated with unique and distinctive N-terminal, or Pre LIM domains.

Specificity

Anti-JUB (C-terminal) specifically recognizes human and mouse JUB.

Application

Anti-JUB (C-terminal) antibody produced in rabbit has been used in immunoblotting and immunofluorescence.

Biochem/physiol Actions

JUB mediates various cellular events. It plays a role in cadherin-mediated cell-cell adhesion and in cell migration. JUB is recruited to cadherin complexes through interaction with α catenin, and also influences the localization of p130Cas at focal adhesions and Rac1 activity during cell migration. Altered expression of the gene has been observed in human papillomavirus (HPV) virus.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.

Storage and Stability

Store at –20 °C. For continuous use, the product may be stored at 2–8 °C for up to one month. For extended storage, freeze in working aliquots at –20 °C. Repeated freezing and thawing, or storage in “frost-free” freezers, is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify by centrifugation before use. Working dilutions should be discarded if not used within 12 hours.
