Gene Information

human ... SORBS2(8470)

General description

SORBS2 (also known as ArgBP2), is an Arg/Abl (proto-oncogene 1, non-receptor tyrosine kinase)-binding protein, that contains an N-terminal sorbin homology (SoHo) domain which interacts with lipid raft proteins, three C-terminal SH3 domains, a Ser/Thr-rich domain, and several potential Abl phosphorylation sites. SORBS2 associates with and is a substrate of Arg and v-Abl. The human SORBS2 gene encodes multiple transcripts that yield different isoforms. SORBS2 is ubiquitously expressed in human tissues and predominant in heart and epithelial cells. SORBS2 is also found in stress fibers and in the nucleus. In cardiac muscle cells, SORBS2 is in the Z-disks of sarcomeres.

Application

Anti-SORBS2 (N-terminal) antibody produced in rabbit has been used in immunoblotting and immunofluorescence.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Sorbin and SH3 domain containing 2 (SORBS2) might function as an adapter protein to assemble signaling complexes in stress fibers and is a potential link between Abl kinases and the actin cytoskeleton.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
