Gene Information

human ... POLR2E(5434)

General description

RNA polymerase II subunit E (POLR2E) is also known as RPB5. It is a subunit of eukaryotic RNA polymerase II. This subunit is also shared by RNA polymerases I and III. The gene encoding POLR2E is localized on human chromosome 19p13.3.

Immunogen

POLR2E purified recombinant protein

Biochem/physiol Actions

RNA polymerase II subunit E (POLR2E) is a target for transcriptional modulation in signal transduction. It binds to transcription partners of RNA polymerase II and modulates transcription and gene expression. POLR2E also associates with hepatitis B virus X protein (HBx), which is known to have a role in the progression of hepatocellular carcinoma.

Physical form

Solution in Dulbecco′s Modified Eagle′s Medium with 10% fetal calf serum and 15 mM sodium azide.
