Gene Information

human ... FEM1A(55527)

General description

Fem-1 homolog A (FEM1A) is a homolog of the Fem-1 gene of Caenorhabditis elegans. It is predicted to encode an ankyrin repeat proteins which is expressed in many tissues. FEM1A is a conserved VHL-box protein. The gene encoding it is localized on human chromosome 19p13.3.

Immunogen

Peptide with sequence CGFIPEDLEAFIELH, from the C Terminus of the protein sequence according to NP_061178.1.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Fem-1 homolog A (FEM1A) is a substrate recognition subunit of cullin-2-RING E3 ubiquitin ligase complex. It has a role in the degradation of stem-loop binding protein (SLBP) and may be involved in anti-inflammatory signaling. FEM1A has been associated with polycystic ovary syndrome.
