CHRNA4 (cholinergic receptor nicotinic α4 subunit) encodes the α4 subunit of α4/β2-containing receptors. This gene is ~17 kb long and has six exons. CHRNA4 is located on human chromosome 20q13.2–13.3.
Immunogen
Peptide with sequence C-HVETRAHAEERLLKK from the internal region of the protein sequence according to NP_000735.1.
Biochem/physiol Actions
CHRNA4 (cholinergic receptor nicotinic α 4 subunit) plays an important role in ND (nicotine dependence). Mutations in CHRNA4 is linked with PIU (problematic internet use). In adult males, polymorphism in CHRNA4 is associated with depression and loneliness.
