Gene Information

human ... C1QL1(10882)

General description

C1QL1 (complement component 1 Q subcomponent-like 1) gene is conserved among the vertebrates. C1QL1 codes for a multimeric protein with 258 amino acid polypeptide and a hydrophobic signal sequence. The encoded protein consists of a collagenous region and a globular domain. The gene is broadly expressed in brain, predominantly in the brainstem.

Biochem/physiol Actions

RNA editing of C1QL1 is found to cause non-synonymous amino acid substitutions. The proteins belonging to the C1q/TNF (complement component 1 Q subcomponent-like 1/ tumor necrosis factor) family are known to be associated with numerous systems such as immune, endocrine, skeletal, neuronal, reproductive, sensory, and vascular systems. CTRPs are involved in the regulation of glucose metabolism.
