Gene Information

human ... SPHK2(56848)

General description

SPHK (sphingosine kinase) has two isoforms, namely SPHK1 and SPHK2 (sphingosine kinase 1 and 2). SPHK2 is abundantly expressed in liver, kidney, brain and heart. It is located on chromosome 19q13.

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 696-710 of human SPHK2.

Application

Yale Center for High Throughput Cell Biology IF-tested antibodies. Each antibody is tested by immunofluorescence against HUVEC cells using the Yale HTCB IF protocol. To learn more about us and Yale Center for High Throughput Cell Biology partnership, visit sigma.com/htcb-if.

Biochem/physiol Actions

SPHK2 (sphingosine kinase 2) induces the invasion and multiplication of colorectal cancer cell by increasing the expression of MYC (protooncogene). Reactions of all-trans-retinoic acid (ATRA) on colon cancer cells enhances due to improper expression of SphK2.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
