Retinoblastoma (Rb) is a pediatric intraocular neoplasm caused due to the biallelic inactivation of the RB1 gene. Retinoblastoma is also known as RB1 (RB transcriptional corepressor 1). It is located on human chromosome 13q14. It is a tumor suppressor gene.
Immunogen
synthetic phosphopeptide derived from the region of human Rb that contains Ser811.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Retinoblastoma (RB) interacts with several protein factors to control the expression of target genes which promote cell cycle arrest, apoptosis, and differentiation. It helps to modulate nucleosome and chromatin structures. Absence of RB induces prostate cancer metastasis.
