General description
Peptide YY (PYY) is synthesized by L cells in the mucosa of the distal ileum, colon, and rectum. It is mainly expressed by peripheral blood mononuclear cells. Peptide YY is located on human chromosome 17q21.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Peptide YY (PYY) is involved in the modulation of gut motility, food intake and insulin secretion and is associated with obesity and type 2 diabetes. It may possess systemic and paracrine functions. NPY agonist with a preference for the Y1 and Y5 subtypes.

We previously reported that intracisternal (i.c.) injection of peptide YY (PYY) and low doses of thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) or TRH analog, RX 77368, increased the resistance of the gastric mucosa to ethanol injury through vagal pathways in rats. The gastroprotective
TLR ligands and butyrate increase Pyy expression through two distinct but inter-regulated pathways

Peptide YY is produced by L cells in the mucosa of the distal ileum, colon, and rectum and may have systemic and paracrine functions. We hypothesized that peptide YY is expressed by peripheral blood mononuclear cells. The purpose of the

This investigation describes the relative potencies of four peptide agonists, namely, peptide YY (PYY), [Leu3l,Pro34]PYY (Pro34pYY), neuropeptide Y (NPY), and [Leu31,Pro34]NPY (Pro34NPY), as antisecretory agents in human, rat, and mouse gastrointestinal preparations. The inhibition of agonist responses by the Y1-receptor

Neuropeptide Y (NPY), peptide YY (PYY), and pancreatic polypeptide (PP) are structurally related but functionally diverse peptides, encoded by separate genes and expressed in different tissues. Although the human NPY gene has been mapped to chromosome 7, we demonstrate here
