Gene Information

human ... PRMT6(55170)

General description

Monoclonal Anti-PRMT6 (mouse IgG1 isotype) is derived from the PRMT6-74 hybridoma produced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells and splenocytes from BALB/c mice. Protein arginine N-methyltransferase 6 (PRMT6) is a member of the type I PRMT enzyme family. This gene is located on human chromosome 1p13.3.

Specificity

Monoclonal Anti-PRMT6 (Protein-Arginine Methyl Transferase 6) recognizes human PRMT6 and does not cross react with PRMT1, 2, 3, 4, or 5

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 358-373 of human PRMT6, conjugated to KLH.

Application

Monoclonal Anti-PRMT6 antibody produced in mouse may be used in:
  • enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA)
  • immunoblotting
  • immunocytochemistry
  • immunoprecipitation

Biochem/physiol Actions

Arginine methylation is mediated by the protein arginine methyl transferase (PRMT) family of enzymes. Reduced PRMT6 expression is observed in melanoma. It is overexpressed in several cancers like, prostate, lung, cervix, breast and bladder. PRMT6 is known to control DNA methylation.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, and 15 mM sodium azide.

Storage and Stability

Store at –20 °C. For continuous use, the product may be stored at 2-8 °C for up to one month. For extended storage, freeze in working aliquots at –20 °C. Repeated freezing and thawing, or storage in frost-free freezers, is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use. Working dilutions should be discarded if not used within 12 hours.
