Matrix metalloproteinase-21 (MMP-21) is a secreted protein expressed in fetal tissues, adult tissues and cancer cell lines. It is a 57kDa protein. The gene encoding it is localized on human chromosome 10.
Specificity
By immunoblotting against the reduced protein, the antibody recognizes bands at 70 kDa and 66 kDa.
Immunogen
synthetic peptide corresponding to the propeptide region of human matrix metalloproteinase 21.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Matrix metalloproteinase-21 (MMP-21) is involved in increasing the invasion capacity and metastasis property of tumors.
Physical form
Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline containing 50% glycerol and 0.05% sodium azide.

We have characterized a novel human matrix metalloproteinase (MMP-21) from human placenta DNA complementary to RNA (cDNA). The 569 amino acid translation of the cDNA includes all the typical features of an MMP family member, namely a signal sequence, a
Matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-21 and MMP-26 (matrilysin-2) are two recently cloned epithelial metalloproteases. Here we examined their expression in various benign skin disorders, in which macrophages and fibroblasts have been implicated as well as in cultures of these cells. Expression of

Matrix metalloproteinase-21 (MMP-21) has been shown to enhance tumor invasion and metastasis ability in some solid tumors. In the present study, we investigated the expression of MMP-21 as well as its association with overall survival of gastric cancer patients. MMP-21
