Major vault protein (MVP) is also called lung resistance protein (LRP). It forms the outer shell of vaults (ribonucleoprotein particles present in the cytoplasm).
Specificity
Reacts with an internal epitope of LRP/MVP (P110).
Immunogen
drug resistant tumor cell line SW-1573/2R120.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Major vault protein (MVP) mediates responses of cells to stress and might play a role in multidrug resistance. It has been shown to be overexpressed in drug-resistant cancer cells.
Physical form
Supplied in serum-free culture medium containing 0.7% bovine serum albumin and 0.1% sodium azide.

Despite their ubiquitous expression and high conservation during evolution, precise cellular functions of vault ribonucleoparticles, mainly built of multiple major vault protein (MVP) copies, are still enigmatic. With regard to cancer, vaults were shown to be upregulated during drug resistance
