General description

MOG (myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein) is an integral membrane protein. It is expressed in the central nervous system and is localized to oligodendrocytes and myelin lamellae (outermost).[1] The MOG gene is mapped to human chromosome 6p22.1.[2]

Biochem/physiol Actions

MOG serves as an efficient CD4+ T-cell response inducer in vitro.[3] This protein consists of 218 amino acids and two transmembrane domains.[1]
This is a truncated peptide from the human Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein (MOG) responsible for the induction of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis in mouse and rat models for human multiple sclerosis research.
