Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to the N-terminal extracellular domain of human luteinizing hormone/choriogonadotropin receptor, conjugated to KLH. The immunizing peptide has 84% similarity with the mouse.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Luteinizing hormone (LH) is produced by the pituitary gland on stimulation gonadotrophin-releasing hormone secreted by the hypothalamus. LH binds to the LH receptor present on the Leydig cells of testis to stimulate the production of testosterone. In ovary, LH controls the ovulation, maturation of oocytes and gonadal steroidogenesis.

Physical form

Solution in phosphate buffered saline, 0.1% sodium azide.

Modifications of the hypothalamo-pituitary-adrenal axis and associated changes in circulating levels of glucocorticoids form a key component of the response of an organism to stressful challenges. Increased levels of glucocorticoids promote gluconeogenesis, mobilization of amino acids, and stimulation of fat

The luteinizing hormone receptor (LHR), one of the three glycoprotein hormone receptors, is necessary for critical reproductive processes, including gonadal steroidogenesis, oocyte maturation and ovulation, and male sex differentiation. Moreover, it has been postulated to contribute to certain neoplasms, particularly
