Biochem/physiol Actions

PKAcγ (protein kinase cAMP-activated catalytic subunit γ) is a catalytic isoform of cyclic adenosine monophosphate-dependent protein kinase. It is an intronless gene and has a testis-specific expression.[1][2] It is involved in platelet biogenesis. Mutation in PKAcγ causes macrothrombocytopenia, an inherited thrombocytopenias.[3]

Physical form

Supplied in 50 mM Tris-HCl, pH 7.5, with 150 mM NaCl, 0.2 5mM DTT, 0.1 mM EGTA, 0.1 mM EDTA, 0.1 mM PMSF, and 25% glycerol.

Macrothrombocytopenias are the most important subgroup of inherited thrombocytopenias. This subgroup is particularly heterogeneous because the affected genes are involved in various functions such as cell signaling, cytoskeleton organization, and gene expression. Herein we describe the clinical and hematological features

Two different mammalian genes for the catalytic subunit (C) of cAMP-dependent protein kinase have previously been characterized (C alpha, C beta). In the present study, we report the molecular cloning of a third isoform of C, from a human testis

Three different catalytic isoforms of cAMP-dependent protein kinase have been identified (C alpha, C beta, and C gamma). We report the cloning and characterization of the human and rhesus monkey genes encoding the testis-specific C gamma subunit. The human C
