Gene Information

human ... KIF5C(3800)

General description

The gene KIF5C (kinesin family member 5C) belongs to the kinesin superfamily (KIF), the members of which are involved in brain functioning, development, and survival. It encodes the kinesin heavy chain that is a kinesin I motor neuron protein.

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acid residues 938-957 from human kinesin 5C.

Biochem/physiol Actions

The gene KIF5C (kinesin family member 5C) encodes a kinesin motor that functions in the transport of apical cargo molecules to a post-Golgi endosomal compartment. Mutations in this gene have been associated with malformations of cortical development (MCD) and microcephaly.

Physical form

Solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 1 mg/mL BSA and 0.05% sodium azide.
