Gene Information

human ... IGFBP6(3489)

General description

The gene IGFBP-6 (insulin-like growth factor binding protein-6) is mapped to human chromosome 12q13.[1]

Biochem/physiol Actions

IGFBP-6 (insulin-like growth factor binding protein-6) works as a tumor suppressor for nasopharyngeal carcinoma and also suppresses prostate cancer cell proliferation.[2]
Insulin-like growth factor binding protein found in cerebrospinal fluid and serum; exhibits 2-fold higher affinity for IGF-II than for IGF-I.

Physical form

Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in 30% acetonitrile and 0.1% TFA.

Analysis Note

The biological activity is measured by its ability to inhibit the biological activity of recombinant human IGF-II on MCF-7 cells.
