Gene Information

human ... IGFBP4(3487)

Biochem/physiol Actions

IGFBPs (insulin like growth factor binding proteins) regulate bioavailability of IGFs (insulin like growth factors) in cells. Binding between IGFs and IGFBPs reduces the availability of the IGFs. However, IGFBPs also concentrate IGFs in specific areas to potentiate their effects at right time. IGFBP4 binds to IGF-1.

Physical form

Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 50 μg bovine serum albumin per 1 μg of cytokine.

Analysis Note

The biological activity is measured by its ability to inhibit activity of recombinant human IGF-1 or recombinant human IGF-II on MCF-7 cells.
