Gene Information
human ... IGFBP4(3487)
Biochem/physiol Actions
IGFBPs (insulin like growth factor binding proteins) regulate bioavailability of IGFs (insulin like growth factors) in cells. Binding between IGFs and IGFBPs reduces the availability of the IGFs. However, IGFBPs also concentrate IGFs in specific areas to potentiate their effects at right time. IGFBP4 binds to IGF-1.
Physical form
Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 50 μg bovine serum albumin per 1 μg of cytokine.
Analysis Note
The biological activity is measured by its ability to inhibit activity of recombinant human IGF-1 or recombinant human IGF-II on MCF-7 cells.
Storage Class
11 - Combustible Solids

Adipose tissue expansion requires growth and proliferation of adipocytes and the concomitant expansion of their stromovascular network. We have used an ex vivo angiogenesis assay to study the mechanisms involved in adipose tissue expansion. In this assay, adipose tissue fragments

Adverse gestational outcomes such as preeclampsia (PE) and intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) are associated with placental insufficiency. Normal placental development relies on the insulin-like growth factors -I and -II (IGF-I and -II), in part to stimulate trophoblast proliferation and extravillous
