Gene Information

human ... CLCA2(9635)

General description

Calcium activated chloride channel 2(CLCA2) is an integral transmembrane protein. CLCA2 is induced during human mammary epithelial cell differentiation. CLCA2 is located on human chromosome 1p22.3.

Immunogen

chloride channel accessory 2

Application

Anti-CLCA2 antibody has been used to detect CLCA2 in nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC) cell lines. It also has been used to detect CLCA2 in SiHa cells and tumor tissues using western blotting.

Biochem/physiol Actions

CLCA2 regulates cell migration and invasion and is also associated with p53 tumour suppressor genes. CCLA2 helps to maintain corneal transparency due to the high and tissue specific expression of CCLA2 gene in human corneal epithelium. CLCA2 plays an important role in suppressing breast cancer. CLCA2 is used as an effective immunohistochemical marker for distinguishing primary SCC and primary ADC of lungs.

Features and Benefits

Prestige Antibodies® are highly characterized and extensively validated antibodies with the added benefit of all available characterization data for each target being accessible via the Human Protein Atlas portal linked just below the product name at the top of this page. The uniqueness and low cross-reactivity of the Prestige Antibodies® to other proteins are due to a thorough selection of antigen regions, affinity purification, and stringent selection. Prestige antigen controls are available for every corresponding Prestige Antibody and can be found in the linkage section.

Every Prestige Antibody is tested in the following ways:
  • IHC tissue array of 44 normal human tissues and 20 of the most common cancer type tissues.
  • Protein array of 364 human recombinant protein fragments.
