General description
PPP1R3B (protein phosphatase 1, regulatory (inhibitor) subunit 3B) (3) gene codes for the regulatory subunit of PP1, a serine/threonine phosphatase. It is located on chromosome 8p23. It has two exons, spanning 134 bp and 3673 bp, respectively. In humans, PPP1R3B transcript variant 1 is expressed in liver and PPP1R3B transcript variant 2 is expressed in various human tissues like placenta, leukocytes, prostate and spleen.

Biochem/physiol Actions
The product of the PPP1R3B (protein phosphatase 1, regulatory (inhibitor) subunit 3B) gene participates in the regulation of glycogen synthesis in the liver and skeletal muscle. Mutated PPP1R3B identified by T cells can be used to treat a melanoma patient with a durable complete tumor regression.
