General description

ANXA13 (Annexin A13) is a calcium-dependent, phospholipid-binding protein belonging to the annexin family and a superfamily of calcium/phospholipid-binding proteins. It is specifically expressed in intestinal and kidney epithelial cells. It is located on human chromosome 8q24.13.

Application

Biochem/physiol Actions

ANXA13 (Annexin A13) plays an important role in the membrane dynamics. In presence of high Ca2+ concentration, ANXA13 directly binds to certain membrane phospholipids and form a connection between Ca2+ signaling and membrane functions. It is associated with the plasma membrane of proliferating endothelial cells and may regulate chemoresistance. It is also associated with cell differentiation and migration.
