General description

SLC25A31 (solute carrier family 25, member 31) is a mitochondrial, bifunctional, adenine nucleotide translocator belonging to the ADP/ATP carrier family. It is localized to mitochondrial region of liver, testis, and brain.

Application

Biochem/physiol Actions

SLC25A31 (solute carrier family 25, member 31) catalyzes the exchange reaction of cytoplasmic ADP to mitochondrial ATP across the mitochondrial inner membrane. It has been suggested that SLC25A31 may involve in various energy generating and energy consuming processes in the distal flagellum. It may also have some impact on the flagellar glycolysis, protein phosphorylation and mechanisms of motility.
