Homeobox 6 (HOXB6) protein is expressed in human hematopoietic progenitor cells (HPCs). The HOXB6 gene is mapped on the human chromosome at 17q21.32.
Specificity
Anti-HOXB6 (C-terminal) recognizes human HOXB6 (also known as HOX2B, HU-2 and Hox-2.
Immunogen
synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 108-122 of human HOXB6 conjugated to KLH. The corresponding sequence is identical in mouse.
Application
Anti-HOXB6 (C-terminal) antibody produced in rabbit may be used in immunoblotting.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Homeobox 6 (HOXB6) is frequently overexpressed in human acute myeloid leukemia (AML). HOXB6 gene overexpression extended hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) and myeloid precursors while decreasing erythropoiesis and lymphopoiesis.
Physical form
Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
Storage and Stability
For continuous use, store at 2-8 °C for up to one month. For extended storage, freeze in working aliquots at –20 °C. Repeated freezing and thawing, or storage in “frost-free” freezers, is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use. Working dilutions should be discarded if not used within 12 hours.

The HOX family of homeobox genes plays an important role in normal and malignant hematopoiesis. Dysregulated HOX gene expression profoundly effects the proliferation and differentiation of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) and committed progenitors, and aberrant activation of HOX genes is
