Gene Information

human ... HCK(3055)

General description

HCK (hematopoietic cell kinase), a protein-tyrosine kinase belonging to the Src family, is expressed in certain hemopoietic cells. It is especially prominent in cells of myeloid lineage, particularly mature granulocytes and monocytes.

Biochem/physiol Actions

HCK (hematopoietic cell kinase) gene is mapped to human chromosome 20q11-q12. This region on the chromosome urdergoes interstitial deletions in some acute myeloid leukemias and myeloproliferative disorders, thereby suggesting HCK participation in the pathogenesis of these conditions.

Physical form

Supplied in 50 mM Tris-HCl, pH 7.5, with 150 mM NaCl, 0.2 5mM DTT, 0.1 mM EGTA, 0.1 mM EDTA, 0.1 mM PMSF, and 25% glycerol.

Protein-tyrosine kinases are implicated in the control of cell growth by virtue of their frequent appearance as products of retroviral oncogenes and as components of growth factor receptors. Here we report the characterization of a novel human protein-tyrosine kinase gene

We have isolated cDNAs representing a previously unrecognized human gene that apparently encodes a protein-tyrosine kinase. We have designated the gene as HCK (hemopoietic cell kinase) because its expression is prominent in the lymphoid and myeloid lineages of hemopoiesis. Expression
