Gene Information

human ... ENO1(2023)

General description

Enolase 1 (ENO1 or ENOα) is a type of enolase enzyme, which in mammals, has three different isoforms namely, α-, β- and γ-enolase. It is an essential cytoplasmic glycolytic enzyme, and has a molecular weight of 48kDa. An alternatively spliced form resides in the nucleus, which has a molecular weight of 37kDa.

Immunogen

Immunogen Sequence: GI # 4503571, sequence 161-320
Recombinant enolase 1

Application

Anti-ENO1 antibody produced in chicken is suitable for western blotting analysis at a dilution of 1:500, for tissue or cell staining at a dilution of 1:200.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Enolase 1(α-enolase) is a homodimer composed of 2 α subunits. ENO1 is involved in tumor progression and prognosis of human glioma. Overexpression of ENO1 is associated with progression of glioma while its knockdown leads to suppressed cell growth, migration and invasion progression by inactivating the PI3K/Akt pathway in glioma cells. The lower expression of ENO1 decreases the response to hypoxia and enhances the sensitivity of the cells to radiation therapy. It may act as a drug target for the treatment of breast cancer.

Solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.02% sodium azide.

The success of using glycolytic inhibitors for cancer treatment relies on better understanding the roles of each frequently deregulated glycolytic genes in cancer. This report analyzed the involvement of a key glycolytic enzyme, alpha-enolase (ENO1), in tumor progression and prognosis
