Gene Information

human ... DLGAP5(9787)

General description

DLGAP5 (discs large homolog-associated protein 5) or DLG7, acts as a mitotic phosphoprotein substrate for Aurora-A. It was recognized 10 years ago, and is a Ser/Thr kinase, which is modulated by cell cycle. It contains a highly conserved domain called guanylate-kinase-associated protein (GKAP) guanylate-kinase-associated protein (GKAP). It is localized to cytoplasm, and is highly expressed in fetal liver. In adults, its predominant expression is in bone marrow, colon, testis and placenta.[1]

Immunogen

Immunogen Sequence: GI # 21361645, sequence 1-300
Recombinant discs large homolog 7

Application

Anti-DLG7 antibody produced in chicken is suitable for western blotting analysis at a dilution of 1:500, for tissue or cell staining at a dilution of 1:200.

Biochem/physiol Actions

The expression of discs large-associated protein 5 (DAP-5, also known as DLG7) is hypoxia-controlled and holds prognostic potential in high-risk prostate cancer (CaP). It can act as a novel biomarker for prostate cancer (CaP). Expression of DLGAP5 is regulated by methylation and the up-regulation contributes to hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis by promoting cell proliferation.[1] It is useful for non-invasive test for early detection of bladder cancer and bilharzial bladder cancer.

Hypoxia has been associated with malignant progression, metastasis and resistance to therapy. Hence, we studied expression of hypoxia-regulated genes in 100 prostate cancer (CaP) bulk tissues and 71 adjacent benign tissues. We found 24 transcripts significantly overexpressed (p ≤ 0.02).
