Biochem/physiol Actions

Morf4 is a member of a family of seven genes and is mapped on chromosomes 15 (4q33-q34.1). It is a positive regulators of cell division and interact with histone deacetylases and acetyltransferases. Morf4 functions in regulation of chromatin dynamics. The proteins that escapes degradation in the cytoplasm, is transported to the nucleus where it is functional.

Neoplasia (New York, N.Y.), 4(6), 544-550 (2002-10-31)
Human chromosome 4 was previously shown to elicit features of senescence when introduced into cell lines that map to complementation group B for senescence, including HeLa cells. Subsequently, a DNA segment encoding the pseudogene Mortality Factor 4 (MORF4) was shown

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 1197, 134-141 (2010-06-12)
Cellular senescence is the dominant phenotype over immortality. In our studies to identify senescence-related genes, we cloned Morf4, which induced senescence in a subset of tumor cells. Morf4 is a member of a family of seven genes, and Morf-related genes

Experimental cell research, 316(1), 92-102 (2009-09-23)
After undergoing several rounds of divisions normal human fibroblasts enter a terminally non-dividing state referred to as cellular or replicative senescence. We cloned MORF4 (mortality factor on human chromosome 4), as a cellular senescence inducing gene that caused immortal cells
