Application

β-Glucosidase is a lysosomal enzyme which breaks β1→4 bonds that link oligosaccharides. β-Glucosidase is used to study Gaucher disease and potential treatments such as enzyme replacement therapy [1].

Biochem/physiol Actions

A deficiency of β-Glucosidase results in Gaucher disease, which is the most prevalent lysosomal storage disorder. Acid β-Glucosidase cleaves the β-Glucosidase bond of it substrates, which are intermediates of globoside and ganglioside catabolism[1]. Product G8798 exhibits exo-cellulase, β-xylosidase and β-glucosidase activities and does not possess endo-xylanase, arabinoxylanase or β-glucanase activities.
