synthetic peptide corresponding to the third cytoplasmic loop of human gonadotropin-releasing hormone receptor conjugated to KLH. The immunizing peptide has between 90% homology with the rat gene and 95% homology with the mouse gene.
Application
Anti-Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone Receptor antibody is suitable for immunohistochemistry (formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded sections) at a concentration of 1-2μg/mL using human pituitary.
Biochem/physiol Actions
GnRHR is a seven transmembrane domain receptor belonging to the rhodopsin-like G protein-coupled receptor superfamily. It lacks a cytoplasmic C-terminal domain, which makes it different from other G-protein coupled receptors. It is expressed on the surface of pituitary gonadotrope cells as well as lymphocytes, breast, ovary, and prostate. It stimulates the action of gonadotropin secretion from the pituitary and thereby controls gametogenesis and steroidogenesis in the gonads.
Physical form
Solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.1% sodium azide.

Gonadotropin-releasing hormone receptors (GnRHRs) are expressed in gonadotropes and several extra-pituitary sites. They are assumed to be cell surface proteins but the human (h) GnRHR lacks features favoring plasma membrane localization and receptor location varies with cell type. When expressed
In human beings, two forms of GnRH, termed GnRH-I and GnRH-II, encoded by separate genes have been identified. Although these hormones share comparable cDNA and genomic structures, their tissue distribution and regulation of gene expression are significantly dissimilar. The actions

A cDNA encoding the human GnRH receptor (GnRHR) has been cloned and functionally expressed in both Xenopus oocytes and COS-1 cells. The 2160 bp cDNA encodes a 328 amino acid protein with a predicted amino acid sequence that is 90%
