Gene Information

General description

FBI-1/Pokemon is a BTB/POZ containing zinc-finger protein. It is predominantly expressed in a subset of T-cell lymphoma and B-cell lymphomas. It is also found in breast, lung, colon, prostate, and bladder carcinomas. It was identified as a critical factor in oncogenesis and is called Pokemon (POK erythroid myeloid ontogenic factor).

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 570-584 of human FBI-1/Pokemon, conjugated to KLH.

Application

Anti-FBI-1/Pokemon (C-terminal) antibody is suitable for immunoprecipitation at concentration of 1-2μg using A431 cell lysates, microarray and western blot at concentration of 0.5-1μg/mL using K-562 cell lysates.

Biochem/physiol Actions

FBI-1/Pokemon (C-Terminal) act as potent transcriptional repressors through the recruitment of histone deacetylases (HDACs) and subsequent chromatin remodeling. By binding to the tumor suppressor gene ARF, the Pokemon exerts its oncogenic activity.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, and 15 mM sodium azide.
