Gene Information
human ... S1PR4(8698)
Specificity
Specifically detects human recombinant and native EDG-6/S1P4 protein (approximately 45 kDa).
Immunogen
synthetic peptide derived from the C-terminal region of the EDG-6/S1P4 protein.
Application
Anti-S1P4, C-Terminal antibody produced in rabbit is suitable for western blotting and flow cytometry at a working antibody concentration of 5-10μg/mL using RH7777 rat hepatoma cells transfected with EDG-6 protein.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor 4 (S1PR4, EDG-6) is a human gene, which encodes a G protein-coupled receptor and is identified as an orphan G-protein-coupled receptor. It binds the lipid signaling molecule sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P). EDG-6 is a member of the endothelial differentiation gene (EDG) G protein-coupled receptor family. It is expressed in lymphoid, hematopoietic tissue and in the lung. EDG-6 acts as a high affinity receptor for SPP that couples to a G(i/o) protein leading to the activation of growth-related signaling pathways. It is one of the S1P or lysosphingolipid receptors that couples to phospholipase C-Ca2+ system through pertussis toxin-sensitive G-proteins.
Analysis Note
To detect native EDG-6/S1P4 in cells and tissues, use higher antibody concentrations.

The endothelial differentiation gene-6 (Edg-6) was recently identified as an orphan G-protein-coupled receptor. Its predicted amino acid sequence is very close to Edg family of receptor proteins whose ligand is supposed to be lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) or lysosphingolipid such as
