Gene Information

human ... S1PR4(8698)

Immunogen

synthetic peptide (approximately 2.5 kDa, native) derived from the C-terminal region of the EDG-6/S1P4 receptor.

Application

Anti-S1P4, C-Terminal antibody produced in rabbit is suitable for western blotting at a working concentration of 5 to 10 μg/ml using COS cells transfected with full length EDG-6.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor 4 (S1PR4, EDG-6) is a human gene which encodes a G protein-coupled receptor and is identified as an orphan G-protein-coupled receptor. It binds the lipid signaling molecule sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P). EDG-6 is a member of the endothelial differentiation gene (EDG) G protein-coupled receptor family. It is expressed in lymphoid, hematopoietic tissue and in the lung. EDG-6 acts as a high affinity receptor for SPP that couples to a G(i/o) protein leading to the activation of growth-related signaling pathways. It is one of the S1P or lysosphingolipid receptors that couples to phospholipase C-Ca2+ system through pertussis toxin-sensitive G-proteins.

Physical form

Supplied in phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.3, and 0.08% sodium azide.

The endothelial differentiation gene-6 (Edg-6) was recently identified as an orphan G-protein-coupled receptor. Its predicted amino acid sequence is very close to Edg family of receptor proteins whose ligand is supposed to be lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) or lysosphingolipid such as
