Pattern-triggered immunity (PTI) and effector-triggered immunity (ETI) are two main plant immune responses to counter pathogen invasion. Genome-wide gene network organizing principles leading to quantitative differences between PTI and ETI have remained elusive. We combined an advanced machine learning method

We have studied the role of arachidonic acid (AA) metabolism in the release of lysosomal enzymes (beta-glucuronidase and lysozyme) from human polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs). 5,8,11,14-Eicosatetraenoic acid (ETYA), which inhibits both the cyclo-oxygenase and the lipoxygenase pathways of AA metabolism, was

We have characterized the effects of eight different drugs on the IgE-mediated histamine release (HR) and leukotriene C4 (LTC4R) from human basophils. Arachidonic acid analogues 5,8,11 eicosatriynoic acid and 5,8,11,15 eicosatetraynoic acid inhibit the release of both mediators in the

New treatment strategies are required for cryptococcosis, a leading mycosis in HIV-AIDS patients. Following the identification of Cryptococcus proteins differentially expressed in response to fluconazole, we targeted farnesyl pryrophosphate synthetase (FPPS), an enzyme in the squalene biosynthesis pathway, using nitrogenous
