Human Caucasian melanoma

Cell Line Description

GR-M was obtained from the thorax of a 36 year old male with skin metastases having received no treatment at the time of the biopsy. The cells express HLA class II and the melanoma associated antigen P97. The expression of epithelial cell kinase (ECK), a receptor protein tyrosine kinase, was also detected.

Culture Medium

RPMI 1640 + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Heated Inactivated Foetal Bovine Serum (HI-FBS)

Subculture Routine

Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:10 i.e. seeding at 1-3x10,000 cells/cm² using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO₂; 37°C.
