Cell Line Description

Isolated from ovine thyroid and adapted to grow in low serum (0.1%) media.

Regulation of thyroid cell metabolism

Culture Medium

Ham′s F12 + 121mg/l CaCl2(2H20) + 10μg/ml Insulin + 10nM Hydrocortisone + 5μg/ml Transferrin + 10ng/ml Glycyl-L-histydyl-L-lysine acetate + 10ng/ml somatostatin + 10mU/ml Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) + 2mM Glutamine + 0.1%Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).

Subculture Routine

Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:2 using 0.05% trypsin/0.025% EDTA in Puck F saline; 2.5% CO2; 37°C.
