Cell Line Origin

Human Caucasian infectious mononucleosis lymphocytes

Cell Line Description

Established by seeding peripheral blood lymphocytes from 20 year old female, 2 months after onset of infectious mononucleosis. EBV transformed B-lymphoblastoid line. The cells should be handled under laboratory containment level 2. Cells are particularly resistant to poliomyelitis and vesicular stomatis, viruses similar to other cell lines carrying EB virus.

Application

Transformation and virus studies: EBV

Culture Medium

RPMI 1640 + 2mM Glutamine + 20% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).

Subculture Routine

Maintain cultures between 4-5x100,000 cells/ml; 5% CO2; 37°C. Subculture every 8 days by centrifugation. Maximun of 1-2 x 1,000,000 viable cells/ml is obtainable.
