Cell Line Origin

Mouse Moblo/y muscle hereditary emphysema

Cell Line Description

Established from the abdominal wall muscle of a 30 day old male Blotchy mouse (Mo (blo/y)) with hereditary emphysema. The cells are deficient in lysyl oxidase activity and accumulate high levels of intracellular copper. NOR-10 (Sigma Catalogue number. 90112701) was isolated from the abdominal wall muscle of a normal litter mate of the mouse from which BLO-11 was derived, thus it can serve as a matched control for studies with BLO fibroblasts.

Culture Medium

DMEM + 2mM Glutamine + 20% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).

Subculture Routine

Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:2 to 1:3 i.e. seeding at 3-4x10,000 cells/cm² using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO₂; 37°C.
