Cell Line Origin

Mouse BALB/c embryonic fibroblast, M-MSV transformed

Cell Line Description

Derived from the MSV.B line (Sigma Catalogue number. 90031901) which has been exposed to 50 IU/ml Interferon for over 200 passages. Unlike the parent line, the cells are non-malignant and do not form tumours in nude mice.

Application

Interferon, transformation and virus studies: M-MSV

Culture Medium

EMEM (EBSS) + 1% Non Essential Amino Acids (NEAA) or RPMI 1640 + 2mM Glutamine + 50-100 IU/ml murine IFN + 5-10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).

Subculture Routine

Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:3 to 1:6 i.e. seeding at 2-4x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C.
